Friends of the Earth – The (Subsidies) Elephant in the Room

Friends of the Earth Ireland wanted a video to highlight the role that subsidies play in distorting the energy system – in fact, those radicals at the IMF estimate the world subsidises fossil fuels by almost $6 trillion every year.

I felt this was an idea that was hiding in plain sight, so I came up with the concept of the ‘fossil elephant in the room’ – the not-so-hidden part of the fossil fuel debate.

This was my first time doing a ‘full-length’ video in 3D, and although I’ve since moved on to using better 3D software, I’m still pretty happy with the results.

Software: After Effects + Element 3D + Stardust

Time spent: 2 weeks + scripting time
